Digital Citizenship Speaker

Dr. Kristen Mattson provided some great resources for parents during her parent presentation.  The books below are wonderful to read with/to your children and discuss safe ways of using technology.

Tips

  1. "Students aren't addicted to technology, they're addicted to socialization," states Kristen Mattson.
  2. Teach them how to use technology appropriately or they will find ways to use it inappropriately.
  3. Set up Parental Controls with your internet provider (Comcast, AT&T, etc.) and your Cell Carrier (Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, etc.).
  4. Be open with your children and go over the Terms & Conditions for apps they are using (SnapChat, Musicaly, Instagram, etc.) so they understand that the app will own all pictures they post.
  5. Common Sense Media has a Family Toolbox that is complete with resources for your family.
  6. Visit Dr. Mattson's Pinterest Board with digital Citizenship Parent Resources!
